Orders, AI & research

Orders read for you, with the page cited.

Lawyer Diary takes the directions and the next date out of every order, with the page and paragraph. It answers questions about a file only from that file, and it never tells you what the law is.

Reading orders

Directions with a source

Each direction and the next date is picked out with its page and paragraph. If there is no source, nothing is shown.

Suggested, not created

Directions found in an order become suggested tasks. One tap creates a task. Nothing is added by itself.

The date you can check

The next date is read from the order. If you change it, the change is logged.

Assisted summaries

Short summaries of long orders, written from the document and marked as assisted.

Ask this file

Answers from the file only

Ask a question and the answer cites the documents on the file. If the file doesn't say, it tells you so.

It won't tell you the law

Ask what the law is and it declines. It points you to the authorities linked to the case instead. That is your job and your liability.

Limited to your role

What it can read depends on who is asking. A clerk sees less, and it says so.

Every question logged

Questions and answers are logged against the file.

Research and drafting

Authorities on the file

Record an authority, the point it supports, its outcome and its status against a case or hearing. They show on the brief sheet.

Import from a citation link

Add an authority from a citation link such as Indian Kanoon or SCC. The citation details are saved, and the full text stays on the source site.

Cite into a draft

Add a recorded authority to a draft with its citation.

In practice

What this looks like on a real day

The forty-page order

Directions are on page 4 and the next date is on page 38.

What happensBoth are listed with page and paragraph. You accept the two tasks that make sense.

When did the defendant first admit?

You need the answer in the middle of a hearing.

What happensAsk this file. The answer quotes the reply on page 12 and cites it. Ask “is this clause enforceable?” and it declines.

The authority that worked

A junior wins an interim application by relying on a particular judgment.

What happensThey record the authority against the hearing. The next time that case type comes up, it is on the brief sheet.

These are example stories. The names and matters are made up. The features are real.

By design

Built so that…

✓Every fact it finds shows a page and paragraph, or it isn't shown.
✓The assistant never tells you what the law is.
✓Nothing it suggests becomes a task or a date until you tap.
✓AI features stay off until a key is set up, and they say so instead of guessing.
